Hold needle with stitches in your left hand. For the purl stitch, working yarn is held in the right hand and in front of the work.

Insert your right hand needle from top to bottom, into the stitch.

Use your left index finger to wrap strand of yarn (in a counter-clockwise motion) around right hand needle.

Use the tip of the right hand needle to scoop the yarn, bringing it through the stitch while pulling loop off of left hand needle.

Continue until end of row or as pattern directs.
